GECAD Group invested about $2 million in R&D until 2003 (when GECAD sold RAV antivirus technology to Microsoft). This investment allowed GECAD to develop an outstanding technology: RAV was the single independent antivirus platform worldwide.

Now, GECAD Group is investing over $100,000 monthly in R&D activities (a big amount for Romanian IT industry). Moreover, our R&D policy is continuously extending. We estimate that this investment will reach $2 million this year and double in 2006. In 2007, the GECAD Group's R&D annual investment will reach $10 million.

Romanian students give shape to our main pool of researchers and developers. GECAD encourages them to make use of their great qualities – curiosity, passion, imagination, commitment – to develop new and innovative technologies.

Even if students are a great part of our R&D teams, we think their potential is best managed by experienced people. That is why GECAD also encourages mature professionals, with managing experience and proven capabilities in successful projects to join its R&D team.

Entrusting young people development and innovation skills, GECAD group has invested in startIT project from end of 2003 until mid of 2004. The project aimed to teach young people how to evaluate the potential of their projects, to further develop them into a business.
